Lesson 8: Guitar chord charts

Guitar chord charts are simply diagrams of the fingerboard and frets that show you how to play specific chords.

A chord is a group of musical notes played together to form a sound in a particular key.

To really understand what they are about and how they are formed, you need to know your musical scales well.

Guitar chords are entirely based on the musical scales. And you need to know the scales to be able to play good lead guitar too.

Here with some chord diagrams for the key of C that you should practice and memorize: C Chords.

Practice playing each chord so that the notes ring clearly and naturally, with no buzzing or muffled sounds. The chords will sound that way in the beginning, until you get your technique down pat.

To learn how to build chords and hear how they sound, go to Guitar Chord Finder.
