Chart of C Chords

Here is a chart of the most important C chords that you will play on the guitar. As a beginner you will mainly play the major C chord, C minor [Cm], and C seventh [C7].Learn how to play these chords up and down the fingerboard. If you learn the scales fairly well, you will understand how to form the chords better.

The C major chord is formed by playing the 1st, 3rd and 5th note of the scale, which are:

C [the root of the scale]
E [the third note in the C scale
G [the fifth note in the C scale

Here's the C scale so you can see where these notes are in sequence:

C -D - E - F - G - A - B - C
